Our Leadership
Our Story
FBC Oakland Park was planted in 1951 out of the evangelistic ministry of FBC Pompano Beach. The work began as a mission that gathered to meet in the Oakland Park Women's Club. As momentum built for the new work some property was purchased and the building that First Baptist now gatherers for worship was constructed. FBC Oakland Park officially covenanted as a church on November 23, 1952 with 82 charter members.
First Baptist Church Oakland Park has had its seasons of peaks and valleys. In her prime, FBC Oakland Park had a thriving outreach and bus ministry which ministered to many in the community. Yet within the last 10 years outreach strategies grew stagnant, membership aged, and numbers have declined. By God’s grace, a remnant of 20-25 regular attenders have remained and eagerly desire to see First Baptist Oakland Park return to its evangelistic roots and be an effective and healthy church in this community for God’s glory for generations to come.

Parkridge Church of Coral Springs, FL has graciously fostered FBC Oakland Park with the goal of replanting this congregation to be a healthy church in Broward County. From the beginning of 2024 our goal was to launch as The Church at Oakland Park by Easter Sunday. With our changes to the church’s name and worship style we reintroduced ourselves to our neighbors and invited them to join us for worship on Sunday. And they did! The Lord has shown us great grace in not only granting us many new connections with our neighbors, but bringing those neighbors back Sunday after Sunday.
